Obituary for Juan Jose Sabala Sr.
Mr. Juan Jose Sabala, Sr., age 73, of Katy, Texas, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, March 13, 2016 at Houston Methodist West Hospital surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Juan Jose Sabala, Sr. was born on December 3, 1942 in Driscoll, Texas, the only son of the late Vidal and Aurora Sabala (Sustaita). Juan was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1962 and joined the U.S. Air Force that same year, where he served overseas during the Vietnam War.
Juan is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Sylvia Sanchez Sabala of Katy, Texas. He will be deeply missed by his three children: Juan Jose Sabala, Jr. of Austin, Texas, Cynthia Sabala (Russell) Johnston of Katy, Texas, Mark Sabala of Katy, Texas, as well as four grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Joshua Greenmun, Elliott Johnston, Reece Johnston, and Sidney Johnston. Also surviving are his sisters: Rosa Gonzales, Maria Elena (Alex) Perez, and Norma Garza. He was loved by all those who knew him whether as Juan, Daddy, Dad, Joe, or Buelo.
Pallbearers are Mark Sabala, Joshua Greenmun, Russell Johnston, Paul Johnston, Chris Long, and Stephen Peña.
Honorary pallbearers are Juan J. Sabala, Jr., Rolando Sanchez, Elliott Johnston, Reece Johnston, Kevin Rodriguez, Alex Perez, Luis Perez, Benjamin Perez, and Isaac Perez.
The funeral service will be a military honors ceremony to be held at the Houston National Cemetery at 11 a.m. on March 22, 2016.
His wife and children want to recognize the outstanding care provided by the nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit of the Houston Methodist West Hospital.
