Life Story for MRS. CORNELIA HUNTER HOBLEY

MRS. CORNELIA HUNTER  HOBLEY
Her Life’s Journey

“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me”. –Psalm 23:4

Heavenly hosts were there to greet her as she moved towards the throne, Angelic choirs sang Hallelujah welcoming home one of their own.

On September 4, 1942, the Lord blessed Nancy and John Hunter Sr. with a beautiful baby girl, Cornelia Lee Hunter, so passionately known as “Cookie”. Because of her love for SWEETS.

She was baptized at an early age and became a member of Sheepfold Church of God and Christ. Later, Cornelia rededicated her life to Christ and in 2010 she united with Living Word Fellowship Church, under the leadership of Dr. Paul Cannings Sr., where she remained a faithful member until her health began to fail.
Cornelia is a product of H.I.S.D.’s Mable B. Wesley Elementary, Hooper Jr. High. She was graduated with a license in Cosmetology. While attending high school she met the love of her life Charles Hobley and in December 1959 they were united in holy matrimony. In 1961, she graduated from Booker T. Washington. To this union one child was born. Cookie gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on February 1,1963, whom they named Leslie Kaye.

After high school her talents continued in cosmetology which took her in several directions. She started her career as a licensed cosmetologist immediately following high school. Her goal was always to make every salon experience unique and memorable for all of her customers. Her expertise and skill as a hair stylist catapulted to levels she had only dreamed about. After many years of working in the salon industry she continued her education later as a cosmetology instructor in the Aldine Independent School District. After retirement as a cosmetology instructor, her love and devotion for educating children continued as a substitute teacher until her health failed her in January 2015. Even though life circumstances challenged Cookie she never waivered in her faith,she never complained or faltered. She stood fast through all the pain. She only stated that she wanted to continue fighting just to see what the end would be like.

Cornelia was preceded in death by her parent, John and Nancy Hunter Sr. and brother John Jr., sisters Johnnie Lee, Jennie V., and Clara.

Cookie loved her family and friends unconditionally, and all who really knew her reciprocated that love.
She leaves to cherish her memories; her faithful husband of 58 years, Charles W. Hobley; Three children; Roderick; Larry; Leslie (Gregory); four grandchildren; Charlissa; Taleaha; Briana; Chauntae; Christian; two great grandchildren; LaReya and Marquis; two brothers; Raymond Hunter and Pete Hunter; One sister; Mollie Grant; Three sister -in-laws Alpha; (Robert); Jessie Lee and Mickey Hobley and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Reverence is now her form of worship, face-to-face with her Lord and King. Eternally to be with Jesus. Heaven is now Cornelia’s home.
