Obituary for MRS. IRENE MITCHELL LEWIS
Mrs. Irene Mitchell Lewis aka “fruit”, passed away at the age of 94 years old, on October 29, 2016 in Houston, Texas.
She was born on November 5, 1921 in Ruston, Louisiana, to the late Isiah Mitchell and Myrtis Lee Flakes. Irene was the eldest of four children: Ethel Evans (Ruston, La), Jessie Hamilton(San Francisco, CA) and Arthur Nicholson Jr. (Houghton, LA). Irene was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter Willie Ruth Alexander. She retired from Harris County Psychiatric hospital in 1983, where she was employed as a cook.
She was the proud mother to three girls: Wille Ruth Alexander, Catherine Jo Anderson and Vera Ashberry Savage.
Irene, leaves to cherish her memories 3 siblings: Ethel, Jessie and Arthur, daughters Catherine Joe Anderson and Vera Ashberry-Savage (Clarence), eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, a host of family and friends.
