Condolence: God Saw You Getting Tired
Unknown Author
God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be
so he put his arms around you and whispered,
“Come to Me”
With tearful eyes we watched you
and saw you pass away
and although we love you dearly
we could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating
hard working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best

Mrs. Dorothy Brown, my grandma, will be missed. I’ll always fondly remember times my brother and I spent with her, from vacations, to countless hours at church, making us read library books and do math problems for the upcoming school years, swimming lessons, holidays spent together, even times being forced to watch her soap operas with her. In hindsight, I now realize, even more so the lessons that were taught to my brother and me by her. In one way or another, we were always taught to keep God 1st, to work hard for anything we want, to be honest, and to be gentlemen. She always spoke highly of each of her children, and of course her grandchildren. Her admiration for her husband was also always noticeable. While I’m deeply saddened for her to leave us, I’m equally happy for her burdens to finally be removed, and for her to reunite with her husband, my grandpa, and other friends and family she had lost along the way. It’s my belief that she’ll always be closely watching us, maybe even providing a small push in the right direction from time to time. Love you grandma.

Condolence: Tribute to My Mother #2

On the day I married Ricky, Mrs. Brown hugged me warmly and said, “You are now my daughter, and although you have a mother, I am now your Mama #2.” That promise was sealed and honored from that day forward. She never treated me like a daughter-in-law…..she treated me as her daughter.
My Dear Sweet Mother #2,
You are the other mother I received the day I wed your son and I thank you Mrs. Brown for the loving things you’ve done with me and for me throughout our years together. You weren’t only my mother in law but you were my friend. I’m going to miss you!
You showed me more than anyone I’ve known. You set a gold standard, the real life example of “DEVOTION”. Watching you and talking with you, I learned many important things that go into the secret sauce of being a wife, a mother and a Christian woman through the good and not so good times. I’m going to miss you!
You had that “AMAZING” strength. Much of your time was spent in nourishing and feeding - not only your family but also extended family, neighbors and friends. Your time spent with your service to God and His church was awesome! You provided a clean and comfortable home for your family and you were one “heck of a cook”! My memories of the Gumbo, Turkey and Dressing, Spaghetti, Potato Salad, and oh my…..that Chocolate Cake! I’m going to miss you!
If only we could sit and talk again like we use to! We laughed together and we cried together. We shared so much. Those memories of you will always be in my heart.
My dear, sweet Mother-In-Law….I love you, Dorothy Brown.
Your Daughter, Jeeva
